WC Bowling Team Takes on Most Cherished Rivals
Wii Tournament Against Worthington Christian Village Residents Always a Highlight
Last week, the Worthington Christian Bowling Team took to the screen for their annual Wii Bowling Challenge against the residents of Worthington Christian Village.
The residents of WCV have won four of the past five meet-ups, holding a 5-4 advantage over the WC Warriors entering the tenth year of this beloved match. WC Bowling Coach Matt Hamilton stated, “Believe me when I say, the WCV residents are not shy when it comes to reminding us who holds the trophy.”
In this year’s warm-up rounds, the residents clearly and soundly out-scored the young bowlers, leaving in question if this would be the year that our Warriors could take back the title.
Then began the main event: the best-of-three championship round.
The young Warriors took the first round, winning 220-153. Feeling refreshed from the Christmas cookie break, the residents gave our Warriors a run for their money, but ultimately, WC took the second round 193 to 189 in a nailbiter that secured the trophy for just the second time in six years.
The competitors played a third round for good measure, with second-team bowlers winning 207 to 187.
The day concluded with our young Warriors chatting with residents and handing out victory cookies to all the residents in the cafeteria.
We look forward to defending the trophy next year.
Thank you, Coach Hamilton, for the light-hearted recap and this heartwarming annual tradition that takes student-athletes into our community.
