Seeing is believing.

Spending time with the senior class confirmed the Irvin’s decision.

When they were planning to have children, Jack and Erika Irvin began thinking about sending their girls to Worthington Christian School. After traveling over 1,600 miles with the school’s seniors, Erika was convinced they made the right decision. Spending a week and a half with the Class of 2016 on the Senior Capstone trip was a real eye-opener for the Irvins.

“I had the opportunity to go with the senior class to the Dominican Republic,” said Erika, whose daughters Regan (WC ’29) and Madison (WC ’31) attend Worthington Christian’s Lower School. “I was just really impressed by the seniors. Their attitudes about life and the way they were committed to serving kids in a third world country and the way they interacted with each other left an impression on me.

“They showed respect for the leaders and the adults on the trip and for each other. All around, I had an amazing experience the whole time. It showed me we have our kids in the right spot.”

Both Jack and Erika had attended various Christian schools while they were growing up. After befriending Adam Heath (WC ’99), a Christian studies and social studies teacher in the Upper School, they began to consider Worthington Christian for their own children.

“We knew Christian education was something we wanted to pursue,” Erika said. “Worthington Christian’s administration and staff are really focused on helping the kids learn not just their ABCs and academics, but how to live a Christ-centered life so they can grow into Jesus followers and create an example as they go out into the world.

“What’s been really impressive for us is the commitment to making sure the kids know about the love of Jesus as well as academics. It’s a well-rounded education with an eternal perspective.”
