The buses took off early this morning to head towards Iglesia Bautista Internacional Church in Santo Domingo for a church service. The worship was beautiful, and we got to listen to the message through an interpreter. After the service, the students had an opportunity to mingle with the youth group kids from the church, and it was fun to watch them chat, laugh and discover many things they had in common.
After lunch, the 4 different teams (green, red, yellow and blue) gathered to compete in a series of events around the pool. Everything from animal charades to Wordle games to pool races went down in an effort to claim the coveted bragging rights. Green team came out on top! Then students had a block of time to choose between pool time, a walk to the beach, and/or a stroll to the local coffee shops. Our kids were thrilled to interact with Dominicans at the beach–swimming with little kids, including teens in Spike Ball and soccer games and keeping the souvenir man busy!
Through conversation today, we also came to learn that this is the 20th trip Worthington Christian has taken in Juan Dolio through our partnership with The Score MTC(Mission Training Center). God is GOOD. We celebrated by taking a team picture around the pool.
After dinner, we had more time in the Upper Room which has become a sacred space to many. The kids were engaged in confession and reflection and some of the most moving worship time we’ve had since arriving. They didn’t want to leave and kept asking for more songs. It felt like a tiny taste of Heaven! God is at work, no doubt, and we are anticipating the work He will continue to do in our upcoming ministry days.
