Steininger Succeeds Longtime Coach, Tom Burns

Worthington Christian is excited to welcome Aaron Steininger (WC ’97) as the new Head Coach of the Boys Varsity Golf Team!

Coach Steininger’s journey with golf began in fifth-grade when he took backyard swing lessons from his dad and played at Minerva Lake Golf Club. As an adult, he continued his love of the game, playing recreationally, taking his son Chase with him anytime he wanted to tag along. It wasn’t until Chase started playing in tournaments that competitive golf became a significant part of Aaron’s life.

Steininger volunteered with the First Tee when his son got involved. The First Tee is an organization that empowers kids through the game of Golf. Here, he discovered and truly started to appreciate the joy kids can find in golf.

Initially a spectator in Chase’s golf career, Aaron transitioned to a more active role in the game after his son graduated from WC in 2023. Steininger joined Buckeye Valley HS as their JV coach where he discovered a deep passion for coaching the sport. In addition to coaching, Steininger is the proud owner of Sunlight Housepainting, a residential painting company he founded in 2008.

Steininger succeeds longtime Head Coach Tom Burns. Burns served as the coach for 15 years, taking the team to second place in Districts in 2023 and seeing Sam Evans achieve Individual State Champion in 2021.

“On behalf of the entire WC Family, we want to thank Coach Burns for these last 15 years,” said WC Athletic Director Tony Earp. “Coach Burns has mentored countless young men on the golf course, helping them improve their game and preparing them to live as strong Christian men. He has built a tremendous culture and community around the golf team and the families who came through the program. Over the years, Coach Burns has done more than what was asked of him, building opportunities for his players and the program. He worked tirelessly to make each season memorable and fulfilling for each WC student-athlete.”

Steininger’s appointment is an exciting new chapter as the Boys Golf program looks ahead to continued growth and success under his leadership this Fall.

“We are excited to Welcome Coach Aaron to the Warrior Coaching Staff,” says Athletic Director, Earp. “Meeting with Aaron, it is clear he is passionate about helping our student-athletes grow in their relationship with Christ, develop their ability to play Golf, and continue to move the program forward building on the effort of former Head Coach Tom Burns who has been pivotal in growing the golf program into where it is today.”

Please join us in welcoming Coach Steininger!

Be sure to save the date for the Warrior Family Golf Night on July 31. This event, hosted by the WC Golf Program at Little Bear Golf Club, will allow families with boys and girls in K-8 to explore the game of golf and meet other families at WC. Registration is coming soon!
