Joshua 4:1-9 provides the backdrop for Dr. Hayes’s charge for WC’s future.

“Regardless of all that’s happened over the 50 years, I believe God is calling us to recognize the power of this moment, where the legacy of the past meets the promise of the future.”

These were just some of the words spoken by the Head of School, Dr. Mike Hayes, in his 19-minute message on April 29, at the school’s 50th Anniversary worship celebration. Citing lessons from Joshua 4:1-9, Dr. Hayes reminded the audience of the importance of honoring and acknowledging Worthington Christian’s history and leaders and looking toward the future.

“We must honor the past but not get lost in it.”

As Dr. Hayes looked toward WC’s future, he shared key takeaways from what has been dubbed as the “listening tour”—a ten-month series of individual and small group conversations with parents, alumni, and alumni parents, teachers, and students to hear their hopes and dreams for Worthington Christian School.

“As I’ve heard from hundreds of you, numerous dreams have stood out. Staying committed to our biblical foundation clearly emerged as the most common and critical dream.”

As the summers months and a slower pace are upon us, we encourage families to carve out time to listen to Dr. Hayes’s entire message as it will set the tone for the 2023-24 school year.
