Lower School Academics

Teachers and staff at our Lower School are doing important foundational work to develop young students. Not only are they helping them become engaged learners, but they also help students appreciate their uniqueness while navigating the importance of community and belonging and pour into them biblical truths that will continue to deepen and mature over time.

Visual & Performing Arts

Tapping Into Our Artistic Instincts

The art of making is at the core of Christian faith, as Jesus was a builder and a maker. We embrace hands-on making through the visual arts and making music through instruments and vocals as an important part of youthful self-expression and glorifying our heavenly Father, the original maker, and artist.

Learning opportunities

This six-year stretch of schooling presents more pre-planned opportunities than at any other time at WC. Collectively, these opportunities involve experiential learning that helps build knowledge, shape character, and forge meaningful friendships—all in preparation for what’s next in the Upper School.

Experiential Trips

Students will get to experience a mother/daughter or father/son trip to Marmon Valley and the Over & Out campout in addition to field trips and other school travel opportunities.

Clubs & Orgs

First through sixth graders explore shared interests and build community through clubs and organizations like Friendship Girls, Connection Groups, Speech Meet, and Let Me Run.

Service & Discipleship

Lower School students participate in chapel and a slate of service projects. Unique, grade-based experiences also emerge, including a Seder Feast (third graders) and Space Camp Study Tour (sixth graders).

Youth Athletics

Rising As Young Warriors

As our students progress through the Lower School, they have more opportunities to become involved in athletics. In addition to our youth football and basketball programs, youth baseball and COBA basketball are also options.

Our flag football program spans all Lower School grades with tackle football available in fifth and sixth grade. Also in sixth grade, young boys and girls can join Let Me Run, to train and compete in a 5k run.

Summer camps continue to provide opportunities for young, aspiring athletes to test and improve their skills, try a new sport, and create new experiences with new and old friends alike.

After School Care Available

Worthington Christian School offers School-Aged Child Care (SACC). This after-school program is available from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. for students in grades K-6. Students enrolled in SACC are involved in various age-level activities, including school study time. There is an additional cost for the SACC program, and space is limited.
