Emma Unger Named All-State in Record Breaking Year

Home » All-School News » Emma Unger Named All-State in Record Breaking Year

Congratulations Emma!

Emma Unger finished strong on Saturday, taking 9th place overall at the DIII State Meet with a time of 18:48.7. Her finish earned her an “All-State” honor with the Ohio High School Athletic Association.

After several years of struggling with and ultimately overcoming a painful hip tumor, Emma will finish her time in the XC program as the girl’s school record holder with a time of 18:32.8 from the Les Eisenhart Invitational earlier this year. Unger’s time broke a 31-year-old school record of 19:04 set by Michelle Burson (WC ’93).

“I knew (this year) wasn’t going to be easy,” Unger said. “Having everything come together after so many years of waiting, going through so much pain, and then breaking the record was such an amazing feeling.”

All of our students, grades 1-12, had an opportunity to cheer and honor Emma during our All-School chapel on November 8. We hope you will join us in congratulating Emma!
