Dan Roads named Dispatch’s All-Metro Boys Soccer Coach-of-the-Year
Congratulations, Coach!
Worthington Christian’s Boy’s Varsity Soccer Coach, Dan Roads, was named by the Columbus Dispatch as the All-Metro Boys Soccer Coach-of-the-Year.
While Coach Roads’ accomplishments on the field are vast, the players quoted by the Dispatch after the state final match focused most on Roads’ leadership and impact off the field.
After the state final match, Sam Blank, a senior defender, stated, “Roads is more than a coach, he’s a friend to us. He teaches history at our school, and we see him every single day, and so we get to go to class with him, then practice, and we get to hang out. We won’t just leave this locker room and never see him again. We’ll see him every day at school. We’re still brothers. That’s what we preached for the whole tournament.”
“There were 21 team alumni in the stands tonight,” senior Caleb Van Dop said after the state final. “(Roads) creates a great environment where people want to be a part of this and come to see the team and how we’ve come together.”
WC Athletic Director Tony Earp congratulated Roads, stating, “Coach Roads did a tremendous job this season with the team, elevating the players to compete at a high level and come together as one cohesive unit. The entire WC family is proud of all Coach Roads, and the WC Boys Soccer Program earned this season.”
The Warrior Soccer program received several mentions in this year’s Columbus Dispatch high school soccer awards. Seniors Sammy Owusu Sarfo and Sofia Divine were named as part of the 2023 Dispatch All-Metro Boys and Girls Soccer Teams, respectively.
Congratulations Warriors!
