ALUMNI IN THE ARTS: OLIVIA RUEGE
Within just one month of graduating from Worthington Christian in 2019, Olivia Ruege (WC ’19) was off to study at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. Although she and her AMDA classmates were required to evacuate the city last February, that hasn’t stopped Ruege from continuing her studies and continuing her creativity. She was recently cast in a murder mystery musical called “A Killer Party” that will begin streaming on April 2. She will play a character named Vivika Orsenwells who is cast as a clown in the musical (within the musical) and is not too happy about it. The musical is a classic whodunit with a great score and clever script.
Ruege describes having the opportunity to do theatre again as “soul filling.”Ruege explains the impact WC has had on her in this way, “WC has definitely shaped me and prepared me for my dream career. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for David O’Roark [WC Theatre Director] and Karen Klapheke [WC Vocal Arts Teacher].”
