Worthington Christian welcomes Sheri Hooley as the Personal Finance and Accounting teacher in the Upper School. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Houghton University in Accounting (Business Admin minor), and an MBA from Arizona State University. Sheri previously served at Switzer, Roy, Jones CPAs as a Senior Tax Accountant. Sheri is a familiar face around WC – she and her husband have three daughters, two WC grads and one WC sophomore this year. Their family attends Northwest Chapel in Dublin.
We asked all of our new staff members several “getting to know you” questions; we hope you enjoy learning a bit more about Sheri!
Who was your favorite teacher in school, and why?
Ms. Reed, my accounting professor in college. I had an 8 AM class with her, and only four students were enrolled in that class so she would often have class at the coffee shop and buy us breakfast.
What is the first job you ever had?
I lifeguarded and coached a diving team in Phoenix every summer until I graduated from college.
If you could quickly and easily learn any new skill, what would it be?
I have often said that I will learn welding when I retire. It would be so convenient around my barn to be able to weld and fix things – and it just sounds fun!
What is your favorite home-cooked meal?
Steak on the grill with mashed potatoes and fresh green beans.
What is your most used emoji? What emoji confuses you the most?
is my most used emoji. Many of the emojis confuse me – according to my daughters, I don’t know how to properly use them.
What makes a “good day” at school?
A good day is when everyone was kind to each other! No “mean people” encounters the whole day!
What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?
Whenever things weren’t going right, I was advised to “choose joy.” I did not always follow that advice because complaining is much easier, but I learn that most of the fun I have in life is more dependent on my attitude than my circumstances.
What is a passage of Scripture you turn to for encouragement?
Ephesians 4:29
