Welcome New Football Coaches
Coaches Jim Bauman, Kyle Nowak, and John Magistro join the Varsity Football Program

Jim Bauman – Assistant Coach
Coach Bauman (pictured left) previously served as a school board member for a term as one of the Grace Polaris Church members. Jim has 26 years of football coaching experience, mainly at the high school level. His first year of coaching was in 1997 as an assistant coach with McCord Middle School in Worthington. In 1998, he joined the Columbus Crusader Football program and coached through the 2020 season. In 2021, he helped with the WC program as sideline help and became a full-time coach with WC for the 2022 season and this year. “I look forward to seeing the young men perform to the best of their ability,” said Coach Bauman. “I also look forward to seeing how God will bless them and us as a team.”
Jim Bauman has been involved with WC in various capacities, most notably as a WC parent. He has one student who graduated from WC in 2022 and has three students currently at WC (Jonathan ’24, Joel ’26, and Lena ’30) who have all been a part of the WC family since Kindergarten.
Kyle Nowak (WC ’14) – Assistant Coach
Coach Nowak (pictured right) has spent the past eight years coaching collegiate and high school athletics. This is his second year coaching high school football; he specializes as a running back and linebacker coach. Coach Nowak is also the head strength and conditioning coach for WC. Nowak spent two years working on the strength and conditioning staff at Georgia Southern University. He then went to The Ohio State University for two years, working as an assistant strength coach for the football team under Coach Ryan Day and Mickey Mariotti and for the men’s basketball program under Coach Chris Holtmann.
Coach Nowak has been blessed to work with athletes from every level, from high school to college and all the way up to professional athletes. “I love coaching because it’s an amazing opportunity to help young men and women become the best versions of themselves through sport,” Nowak said. “I believe that the one way to find Christ is by accepting the Lord into your heart, repenting for sins, and acknowledging He died on the cross. Christians aren’t meant to be ‘behind the scenes’ people. We are called to be people of action, passionate, and hard-working, trying to further the kingdom of God.”
John Magistro – Assistant Coach
Coach Magistro (pictured center) has a decorated coaching career that spans decades. Magistro served as Head Coach at Bellaire High School from 1986-2006; during that span, Magistro led the team to nine OVAC championships six regional titles, and played in the 1995 and 1996 Division IV state championship games. At Bellaire, Magistro was fortunate to coach four players – Joey Galloway, Ben Taylor, Jose Davis, and Nate Davis – who all went on to play professionally and numerous others who went on for solid collegiate careers. Coach Magistro then served as head coach at Westerville Central High School from 2009-2017 and was inducted into the Ohio High School Football Coaches Hall of Fame in 2015. Magistro comes to the Warriors, having served as the Defensive Coordinator at Worthington Kilbourne High School for the last four years.
Magistro is married to wife, Lill, and they are parents to Chad, Gina Chirpas, and Amy Doak and grandparents to nine grandchildren.
