GANTZ NAMED TEACHER OF THE YEAR
Peer-selected award given annually by the Fund for Academic Excellence.
Worthington Christian’s fourth-grade teacher Lucas Gantz had a few unexpected visitors on Tuesday, May 2. Head of School Dr. Mike Hayes and Fund for Academic Excellence committee member Doug Meyers (WC ’81) interrupted Gantz’s class to announce that he had been named WC’s 2023 “Teacher of the Year.”
This peer-selected award is given annually to a faculty member who exemplifies excellence in teaching, Christian discipleship, and love for students. The Worthington Christian School Fund for Academic Excellence (formerly known as the PTF Endowment Fund) provides a financial gift to the teacher and a place on the Teacher of the Year recognition plaque in each school building.
Gantz, who began teaching at WC in 2005, was also surprised by his wife Katie and children Carter (fifth grade) and Chloe (third grade), along with Principal Nanci Griffith and Assistant Principal Sarah Herren.
