The Columbus Association for the Performing Arts recognizes The SpongeBob Musical’s director and lead actor.

The CAPA Marquee Awards were held at the Ohio Theatre on May 10. The Tony Awards-style event celebrates top high school musical theatre productions throughout Central Ohio. It was quite a night for the Worthington Christian Theatre Department as two members of The SpongeBob Musical production were honored with top awards. Theatre Director David O’Roark won Best Direction and senior Wyatt Kerns was named Best Actor in a Leading Role for his portrayal of Squidward Q. Tentacles. Additional Finalists included:

  • Jonah Dean, Best Student Designer
  • Samuel O’Roark, Best Actor in a Leading Role
  • The SpongeBob Musical, Best Musical Production

Wyatt’s honor earned him the opportunity to travel to New York City to join top musical theatre students from across the country for a week-long theatre intensive where he will experience private coaching, master classes, and rehearsals in preparation for a special showcase performance.

Congratulations to the entire cast. And remember to join us on May 13 and 14 for the final theatre production of the year.
