There are two types of questions families ask about WC:

The questions they need to ask to gain more insight and understanding of what makes us unique, and the more personal, inward-focused questions that they need to consider before making a decision.

QUESTIONS FOR WC

Here is a small sample of the commonly asked questions from families seeking answers before making an informed decision. If you have questions you don’t see here, please contact us and ask.

DOES WC OPERATE AS A FOR-PROFIT OR NOT-FOR-PROFIT SCHOOL?

WC has been operating as a not-for-profit school since its inception in 1973.

How is WC Governed?

WC’s Board of Directors is a nine-member body charged with the school’s governance, including vision and policy setting, as well as supervision of the head of school. The duties and functions of the board are outlined in Articles III through VII of the school bylaws.  (consistent with governance answer via About section)

WHAT IS THE CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION TO WC?

We want your student to thrive at WC. We also desire your family to experience our vibrant community fully. The following requirements for admission ensure we accomplish both objectives.

  • Your family regularly attends an evangelical church and affirms WC’s Statement of Faith.
  • Your student demonstrates, through their academic record and admissions assessments administered by the school, that he/she has attained a level of academic achievement that will allow their academic experience at WC to be successful.
  • Your family understands and agrees to follow WC’s Handbook.

DO YOU OFFER SIBLING OR OTHER KINDS OF DISCOUNTS?

Sibling discounts are unavailable; however, the number of children enrolled is factored into the financial assistance equation.

Two discounts are available.

A discount of $125 per student is extended to those families who wish to pay the entire balance up front. To qualify for the discount, you must be paying the full or MSA tuition rates and receive no other discounts. The payment must be received no later than July 15 (or 15 days after billing).

The Ministry Support Assistance program is extended to qualifying members and attendees of Grace Polaris Church. This discount is for those who support the church with consistent, systematic gifts and offerings.

WHAT IS-AND ISN’T-COVERED BY THE ANNUAL TUITION COST?

While tuition covers most day-to-day costs associated with your student’s WC education, there are expenses over and above tuition.

Required Costs

  • Schools Uniforms | The cost varies from family to family. Uniforms may be purchased from Land’s End or School Closet. The school hosts a Share the Ware sale every year in which families may purchase gently used uniforms still in excellent condition.

Optional Costs

  • Lunch | Lunches are prepared fresh each day in one of our kitchens. Students may purchase lunch on a day-to-day basis. Menus are available to families on the website and WC app.
  • School-Aged Child Care | SACC after-school care for families who need extended time.
  • Athletic Fees | Participation on certain athletic teams carries a modest fee.
  • Class Trips | Although class trips in the sixth,, eighth, and 12 grades are optional, we encourage all students to participate, and most do.
  • Advanced Placement | AP testing is for those students who take AP classes.

  • What must we give up to make this happen?
  • What would we be giving up if we didn’t choose WC?
